  Rome
One of the most ancient cities in Europe, with a heritage of over two millennia, Rome is considered the world's biggest open-air museum. Travel information

  How to reach the venue
Rome is located right in the middle of the Italian peninsula, at the centre of the Mediterranean Basin. Connections with the rest of the world are assured by means of two airports, namely Leonardo da Vinci-Fiumicino (FCO) and Ciampino (CIA). See above for the location of ISS within Rome.

The best way to reach the city centre from the airport is by train. Both Termini and Tiburtina train stations are suitable. You can then use the underground (M), buses or taxis to reach your hotel. Globus hotel is well connected to Termini station by bus (line 310).

  Visas
Citizens of some non-European countries may need a visa to visit Italy. Please contact your nearest Italian embassy or consulate for further details. IUPAC sponsorship implies that entry visas will be granted to all bona fide chemists, provided application is made not less than six months in advance. If a visa is not granted two months before the meeting, the Organizers and the IUPAC Secretariat should be notified by the applicant.

  Climate
Having the Alps as a northern border and the Mediterranean Sea surrounding much of the country, Italy generally has a delightful and mild climate. Rome lies on the western coastal area where the weather is moderated by the Tyrrhenian Sea. In April, temperatures in Rome generally vary in the range 6-18 °C.
